Sharon Miller and the Rockfest Large Munsterlanders

My name is Sharon Miller and I live with five Munsters. I bought Dylan, my first, in early 1998; at the time I also had Heide, a small – but dominant – crossbreed bitch. Sadly Heide died in the summer of 2001 just before Floyd came to live with us. I work as a “Postie” so I can fit my working day around my dogs!

Floyd came to live with Dylan and I soon came to realise how different two male Munsterlander dogs can be…… Floyd is nicknamed Flopsy, because he is so laid back!

In 2002 Floyd met Belle, a lady Munster! Marli, one of the resulting puppies, came to live here – and I soon came to realise how different a female Munsterlander can be!

My three have taught me that although Munsterlanders all have similar traits, - all are basically noisy, boisterous dogs - they all have truly individual characters……

Meet my dogs.......................

Dylan, (Sh. Ch. Blitzan Ragamuffin) had an impressive Show career, CCs and BOBs and a Group 2 placing – and all that at Championship Shows. He has had numerous BOB.s (and 2 Res. Best in Shows) at Open Shows. He also has his Good Citizen Silver Award. However, he was still known to run off after interesting smells! (Always on the lookout for lady dogs).

Floyd, (Yeldoaks Hot Pursuit J.W.)  has also done well at Shows. He did very well at both Championship Shows, and earned his Show Champion title, and also was the second dog in the breed to obtain the Sh. CM title at Open Shows He had several BOBs and a RBPIS. He is very obedient and has gained his Good Citizen Gold Award. He is a real Gentleman and a bit of a softie. Floyd has such a wonderful, biddable nature that he and I learnt more about the working side of things together, and have competed in several working tests. Both boys are now Veterans and retired from the ring and the field.

Marli, (Ichbin Pagus of Rockfest) Floyd's daughter, has also done well, she was Best Puppy at Midland Counties Ch. Show (when her Dad got BOB) and has obtained both a Puppy Grp. 1 place, and a Puppy Grp. 4 place at Open shows. At Mid-Herts Gundog Show with Judge Mr. M. Quinney she was RBPIS. (and on the same day her Dad, Floyd, was again BOB) She also has her Good Citizen Award. Marli can be a right little Madam, but very loving at the same time! Marli has two CC’s but prefers to concentrate on her agility career.

Jovi or Ichbin SolarSpirit of Rockfest came to join us at the end of March 2006. She is out of Freya (Freya of Ichbin Imp. Swe.) and by Kalevalley Sololad of Ellscott. I wanted another bitch, and my first priority was the temperament – and that I have got! Jovi is an absolute sweetie, full of character – but in the nicest possible way.

She joined the others in the show ring at National Gundog, and has been to several shows, even taking Best Puppy at the Club open show last October under breed specialist judge Sylvia Eagleton. She completed an agility ‘control’ course, which is not agility as such, no real jumping or anything, just basic control, learning such directions as left and right and generally learning the mechanics of the sport. She also trained for her Silver Good Citizen Test. However, she has a problem with her elbows and will never be the agility dog I had hoped for. But I love her for herself, and her sweet nature.

Finally, introducing Genna, see pic right.

Blitzan Truly Magical of Rockfest

Hopefully Genna will be joining Marli  at agility,  she is about to start the basic control course,

and is a bit of a live wire.................  So watch this space

She did indeed do the control course, and “Graduated” with a score of 97 out of a possible 100 marks. .

See the Pic below left. Please note the height of the jumps, very low,  for learning commands and control  only, dogs should not start proper agility and jumping until 18 months old.

Sharon’s dogs are just pets - but busy pets.... And clearly multi-talented.
